"Pakistan's president, speaking from New York, dismissed as "nonsense" widespread speculation that his military-led government had been overthrown during his absence.
A nationwide power outage and President Gen. Pervez Musharraf's stop at a U.S. hospital over the weekend give rise to rumours of a coup.
But in an interview Sunday with Pakistani TV, Musharraf called the rumours "nonsense in nonsense in nonsense." He spoke during a trip to the United States to address the U.N. General Assembly and meet with U.S. officials.
Musharraf, 63, underwent routine testing with his cardiologist on Saturday during an unannounced trip to Texas a day after meeting with President Bush in Washington.
The Pakistani president was "found to be in excellent health," according to a statement from the regional medical center in the East Texas town of Paris.
After leaving the hospital, Musharraf attended a private luncheon in the small town about 105 miles northeast of Dallas, The Paris News reported in Saturday's online edition.
On Sunday, millions of homes across Pakistan were left without power for several hours after a glitch in the national electricity transmission system, government officials said.
Musharraf, who is expected to return to
Pakistan on Saturday, himself came to power in a bloodless 1999 coup.
He became a key U.S. ally in the war on terror after the Sept. 11, 2001
attacks."

Ok now you must've read through the entire text and said Oh well just another piece of news, but the reason why I pasted the text is different.
On Sunday, millions of homes across Pakistan
were left without power for several hours after a glitch in the
national electricity transmission system, government officials said.
Yes, I spent this Sunday in a very gloomy way. The power went out at around 11 in the morning and came back after I'd been in bed for an hour or so.
Ummmm considering the way the media portrays the image of life in the Developing World one would say That's not news is it?
Well NO that IS something different.
You see there ARE areas even in Pakistan where power outages are rare if not unknown. We consume electricity as anyone in the modern age would; computers running, TVs and stereos blaring music, cellphones silently sucking up electricity like mosquitoes the list goes on.
The worst thing about the power outage was of course WATER, luckily I'd only refilled the water tank just minutes before the power went out but still, we didn't know how long it would take to get the power back. Prudent we were and used the water REALLY carefully =0)
It is times like these that one realizes how we take things for granted. I couldn't even play games on my cellphone for I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use it for phonecalls, I even put the screen brightness on the lowest possible so it won't tax the battery.
The thought of some sort of terrorist attack was not alien. WE HAVE spent a day like this without Natural Gas! but that was because some freak blew up the gas pipeline and since people in Pakistan use natural gas for cooking and heating purposes (it's cheaper) it was a DISASTER but since we had electricity atleast we got freshly boiled milk from the microwave hehe yeah I know it's ridiculous but hey it's all about survival!
Atleast this time it was just a GLITCH and not some terrorist warning!
Anyways, it was nice to have the fridge working for I don't fear the lamb chops to rot or the milk to be spoilt. I hope we don't have to go through this again!
